State Bank of India (SBI) has released the recruitment notification for Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre under a Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC backlog vacancies

A total of 1,538 vacancies are available across different SBI Circles and States/UTs. The online registration and fee payment window is from 07 August 2026 to 27 August 2026. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and can appear for the test only once under this recruitment project.

Candidates must select one local language at the time of online application. The selected language must be known for reading, writing, speaking and understanding.

Age Limit

The age limit is calculated as on 01 April 2026. Candidates must not be below 20 years and must not be above 28 years of age.

  • Minimum Age: 20 Years
  • Maximum Age: 28 Years
  • OBC relaxation: 3 Years
  • SC/ST relaxation: 5 Years
  • PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other relaxations apply as prescribed.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Candidates in the final year or semester of graduation may also apply provisionally, provided they can produce proof of passing the graduation examination on or before 31 December 2026, if provisionally selected.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of an online examination followed by the specified opted local-language test:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Specified Opted Local Language Test

Candidates who have studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th standard and produce the required mark sheet or certificate may not be required to take the separate language test. Candidates who fail the required language test will not be offered appointment.

There is negative marking in the objective tests. For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the SBI Careers Current Openings website.
  2. Open the Special Recruitment Drive for Junior Associates 2026.
  3. Register online using a valid email ID and mobile number.
  4. Select only one State/UT and the required local language.
  5. Enter personal and educational details carefully.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration.
  7. Pay the applicable fee through the available online payment method.
  8. Review the application before final submission.
  9. Submit the application before 27 August 2026.
  10. Save the final application and payment receipt.
Important: Candidates should keep their registered email ID and mobile number active until the declaration of results because SBI may use them for call letters, advice and other recruitment communication.

Other Important Details

  • Candidates can apply for vacancies in one State/UT only.
  • There is no provision for Inter Circle or Inter State Transfer for newly recruited Junior Associates.
  • Merit lists will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.
  • Selected candidates will be posted in the State/UT for which they applied.
  • The Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for September 2026.
  • The Main Examination is tentatively scheduled for October/November 2026.
  • Newly appointed Junior Associates will normally remain on probation for a minimum of six months.
  • SBI will arrange online Pre-Examination Training for eligible candidates who opt for it.
