- Computer Based Test (CBT) – 85% Weightage: 100 Objective Questions (1 mark each, 0.25 negative marking).
- CBT Section A (General Aptitude): 50 Questions (Quantitative: 20, Reasoning: 15, English: 15) in 60 minutes.
- CBT Section B (Domain Knowledge): 50 Questions related to the chosen engineering/professional domain in 90 minutes.
- Group Discussion (GD) & Group Task (GT) – 5% Weightage: Minimum 40% qualifying marks.
- Personal Interview (PI) – 10% Weightage: Minimum 40% qualifying marks.
- Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME): Medical fitness clearance as per IOCL guidelines.
- Passport Photograph: 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, light/white background, clicked in April 2026 or later (200 × 230 px, 20 KB – 50 KB, JPG/JPEG).
- Live Photo Capture: Mandatory live webcam capture or QR scan via mobile phone in bright lighting.
- Scanned Signature: Black ink pen on white paper, running handwriting (140 × 60 px, 10 KB – 20 KB, JPG/JPEG). No CAPITAL letters.
- Left Thumb Impression: Black or blue ink on white paper, unscanned/smudge-free (240 × 240 px, 20 KB – 50 KB, 200 DPI JPG/JPEG).
- Certificates: SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD certificate details must be entered; originals verified at GD/PI stage.
- Open the official IOCL website at iocl.com and go to ‘IndianOil for Careers’ → ‘Latest Job Opening’.
- Click on ‘Apply Online’ and select ‘Click here for New Registration’.
- Enter your full Name, active Mobile Number, and valid Email ID to generate your Provisional Registration Number and Password.
- Fill in academic credentials, engineering discipline, and select 3 prioritized CBT Test Center choices.
- Upload scanned copies of your passport photo, signature, left thumb impression, and capture your live photo.
- Preview the application form using the ‘Preview’ tab and verify all details before clicking ‘Complete Registration’.
- Proceed to the online payment gateway to pay the ₹ 1,000/- fee (exempted for SC/ST/PwBD).
- Submit the application, download the e-Receipt, and save the generated PDF application form for record.

1. What should I do if there is a delay in accessing the registration page?
Server speed depends on traffic and connection. Retry after 15 minutes or apply during off-peak night hours.
2. How do I confirm my application is successfully registered?
Successful registration generates a “Registration Number” and “Password” on-screen and sends an email/SMS confirmation.
3. What if I did not receive an email intimation after registering?
Check your email spam/bulk folder. Ensure your email ID was entered correctly without domain errors.
4. How do I verify my saved application if the session disconnected?
Log in via the ‘Re-Print Application / e-Receipt’ option. If no record exists, re-register afresh.
5. What should I do if I get a blank or zero (0) Registration Number?
Re-register the application and verify your submission through the application printout page.
6. Can I modify details after submitting the application?
You can edit before clicking ‘Complete Registration’. No changes are allowed after final submission on 03/09/2026 (05:00 PM).
7. Are B.Tech / B.E. holders eligible for Diploma Engineer (Grade E0) posts?
No. Candidates with higher qualifications (B.Tech, B.E., MBA, MCA, CA) are strictly ineligible for Grade E0 posts.
8. What is the photo and signature specification for upload?
Photo: 20–50 KB (JPG, light background); Signature: 10–20 KB (Black ink, cursive only, no capital letters).
9. Is there negative marking in the Computer Based Test (CBT)?
Yes. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in both General Aptitude and Domain sections.
10. Where can I lodge a complaint if I encounter registration errors?
