Principal Eligibility
The candidate must have a Master’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
The candidate must also have a Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized University or Institute.
The required experience is ten years of teaching experience.
The teaching experience must be as Vice Principal, Post Graduate Teacher or Trained Graduate Teacher.
The experience must be in a recognized High School, Higher Secondary School, Senior Secondary School or Intermediate College.
Vice Principal Eligibility
The candidate must have a Master’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.
The candidate must also possess a Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized University.
The candidate must have two years of experience as a Post Graduate Teacher.
OR
The candidate must have three years of experience as a Trained Graduate Teacher.

UPSC Principal, Vice Principal Exam Pattern 2026
The Combined Recruitment Test will be conducted for Principal and Vice Principal posts.
The test will have a duration of two hours.
The question paper will contain objective type multiple-choice questions.
The test will carry a maximum of 300 marks.
The examination will be conducted in both English and Hindi.
Each question will carry equal marks.
There will be negative marking for incorrect answers.
One-third of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
